About Dar a Luz

Dar a Luz Network is a non-profit born in Dayton, Ohio in March of 2005 with a strong vision and purpose: to make a broader range of evidence-based information and a stronger circle of unconditional support available to ALL women in their pregnancies, births and early motherhood.

Dar a luz is the Spanish phrase for giving birth, although the literal translation means "to bring to the light." We love this name for its two meanings. Dar a Luz Network is about birthing and also about bringing new light to our often unconscious ideas about pregnancy, birthing and parenting.

Because pregnancy and birthing are such powerful and often life-changing events for women and their families, Dar a Luz believes every woman deserves the broadest range of evidence-based information and full support in the choices she makes for her pregnancy and birth.

Dar a Luz Network does not promote a specific style of birthing or have predisposed agendas. Dar a Luz Network's mottos are simple: "PRO INFORMATION" and "PRO SUPPORT."

Dar a Luz is committed to supporting our Chapter Leaders and their communities as we work together to Bring New Light to Pregnancy and Birthing.
